Although traditionally Staines Lammas Band is does not enter formal band contests it has participated - under the leadership of Musical Director Glenn – in a four-band ‘friendly’ entertainments contest in Addlestone Community Centre annually since 2006.  The contest is entitled Challenging Brass; the winning band receives and holds for one year The Genet Trophy.

Adjudicators award points for the performance of the test march (20), entertainment value and presentation (30) and overall musical performance (50); a prize is also awarded to the best soloist.
